Lincolnshire based Artist working mostly in Ceramics
My name is Christina Stevens and I am an artist in south Lincolnshire. I have a degree in three-dimensional design (3D craft pathway, in wood, metal, glass and ceramics.) I also took evening classes in slip cast ceramics and small metals.
I now work mostly in ceramics, but still use a variety of other materials combined with stoneware and porcelain. My creations are a unique array of sculptures, figures and vessels, often based around organic themes. I draw strong influence from the sea creatures and land based wildflower
Most of my work is hand build, coil, pinch, and roll as well as other construction methods, often utilising formers to help support the clay until it is firm enough to support itself. I have a variety of press-moulds as well as sprigs and 2, 3, 4 piece plaster moulds I have made myself ( these are used mostly for slip-casting the ball jointed figures’ arms and torso.) I also use found objects, lace, plants and windflowers pressed into the clay to provide detail and pattern.
I sell my work at Artists Markets in Lincoln and the surrounding areas, as well as exhibitions, a couple of small galleries and in my Etsy store.
