Suzanne Townshend: Treadle Lightly

Taking inspiration from the natural world, and leaving only the feintest footprint, Suzanne creates unique textile art, alongside apparel and home accessories.

Suzanne is handweaver and has been creating textiles on a handloom for two decades, enjoying the challenge of designing and making unique items. Inspiration for each design has its origin in distinctive features of the English countryside. Textures and colours experienced during her time outdoors provide the first step to creating one off textiles using mainly natural fibres including wool, silk and linen. Many of the yarns she uses she dyes in her workshop with plant-based dyes which helps reduce the environmental impact of her craft.
